Imelda Impacting Texas; Full Tropics Update

Tropical Storm Imelda quickly developed today just off the coast of Texas and made landfall near Freeport at 1PM CT. It has technically been downgraded to a tropical depression. However, due to the slow-movement of this wet system, conditions will likely worsen into at least Wednesday across portions of Southeast Texas. As seen in recent years, heavy rains can quickly lead to dangerous flooding in the Houston area. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect. I am continuing to provide updates on social media. If necessary, live stream(s) with the latest radar images and information will be provided on Twitter (@CloudCasey) and possibly Facebook (@CaseyCloudWX). For Imelda’s updated forecast track, go to cloudsweather.com/tropics/.

Humberto is now a major hurricane as it continues to track away from the United States. However, Bermuda has been placed under a Hurricane Warning. While this system is not expected to make landfall there, the large hurricane will bring them some impacts.

In addition to Imelda, Tropical Depression Ten also formed today. It is expected to become Tropical Storm Jerry later tonight or early Wednesday. Early indications are that this system will recurve before reaching the Continental United States, but it is too early to know for sure.
